Joe Thambu Shihan (8th Dan)
Sensei Joseph 'Joe' Haridas Thambu (b. 24 March 1961, Seremban, Malaysia) is an 8th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido Shihan and a distinguished teacher of the art. Beginning his training at age 11 under his uncle, Thamby Rajah, he later moved to Melbourne, Australia, where he established the first Yoshinkan Aikido school in the country. Sensei Thambu has trained extensively in Japan, receiving direct instruction from Yoshinkan founder Gozo Shioda and other senior masters. He was the last person graded by Shioda, earning his 5th Dan in 1993. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded his 8th Dan in 2015. Sensei Thambu continues to teach worldwide and hosts international students at his Melbourne-based dojo.

Robert Mustard Shihan (8th Dan)
Sensei Robert Mustard (b. 19 May 1956, Toronto, Canada) is an 8th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido Shihan and a highly respected teacher of the art. Beginning his martial arts journey with Kung Fu and Kendo, he later dedicated himself to Yoshinkan Aikido under Takeshi Kimeda, before moving to Japan in 1986 to train intensively at the Yoshinkan Hombu Dojo for nine years. While there, he primarily studied under Takafumi Takeno and Tsutomu Chida. In 1995, Sensei Mustard relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where he established Aikido Yoshinkai Burnaby. Awarded his 8th Dan in 2014, he later founded Aikido Shobukai in 2023. He remains in high demand as a seminar instructor across North America and Europe, often teaching alongside fellow senior instructors such as Sensei Joe Thambu and Sensei Jacques Payet.
