Dunkirk Primary School International Day Aikido Demonstration
On the hot summer day of 13th of July the after school club of Dunkirk Primary school children performed their first demonstration on “International Day” event. The International Day is Dunkirk Primary school’s annual event where they share and celebrate the multiculturalism in the school , where parents and children get involved by sharing their food, activites and culture.
Sensei Tad has been running the after school clubs since last year, and it was the perfect opportunity to show all the parents and the public of all the hard work they have been putting in the Aikido classes. We had a fantastic turn out of all the parents and school children and we performed 2 demonstrations led by the younger children aged between 5-7 yrs old group showing their flip falls and sword work. There were lots of oos and aahhhs where spectators were mesmerised by their skills.
Everyone who has attended showed a great Samurai Spirit and the black belt attitude. Everyone was presented with a certificate and because of their hard they were also give double tags as a result. So well done and congratulations to all the juniors who have attended the Samurai Summer Camp.
This was then followed by the elder group of the school kids from 8-11 years old. They were focused, sharp and loud, showing their great abilities to move together, and quietened the crowd!! They showed kihon dosa and flip falls and ended the demonstration with a big round of applause.
It was a fantastic event and we all finished off with tasting some of the finest culinary dishes made by the parents from over 15 countries. I have some great photos from the event and you can find them by clicking on the link below.
