Weekly Bulletin 23rd October
Good evening everyone,
The Sensei Ramlan seminar is fast approaching and early bird prices end this week! Apologies for the belated bulletin…
RAMLAN ORTEGA SENSEI SEMINAR (5th Dan)
On Tuesday 7th November Nottingham will be graced by a great 5th dan instructor from Aikido Shudokan Malaysia in Sensei Ramlan Ortega, 5th Dan. The seminar will be from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at a price of just £20 for early bird buyers! This is a fantastic price for such a high level teacher travelling half the planet to teach us in Nottingham. To make it even more worthwhile we are offering an amazing deal for people present at the seminar: if you attend the Tuesday seminar then, for the same price, we are allowing students to train on Monday 6th, Wednesday 8th, and Thursday 9th with Sensei Ramlan from 6:00 – 7:00pm!! This is because our own Sensei Tad will be away for this week and there will be no classes in our dojo in these days.
On Friday 27th October (this Friday) the early bird fee will expire and the price of the seminar will go up to £30 so be sure not to be out on this fantastic opportunity!!
Do not miss out in this fantastic special offer package of training which could be 5 hours of training for just £20 with Sensei Ramlan!
JUNIOR SEMINAR WITH SENSEI RAMLAN:
On the Tuesday 7th November there will also be a junior seminar from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. This is a great opportunity for young aikidoka to be taught by teachers from different corners of the world as they gain both aikido knowledge and perspective. The seminar will be in a large dojo with many students from other dojos also looking to further their ability under international tutelage. For juniors looking to compete in that months Kumite Competition this seminar comes highly recommended as there will be exclusive tips and pointers being taught that could provide the difference between winning and losing on the day! I will also be there in assistance so do not worry about a lack of familiar faces! The seminar will come at a cost of £5, a great price for such a high calibre teacher and feel good event – you won’t regret this one!
JUNIOR JIYUWAZA COMPETITION
The event will take place on Sunday 26th November and start at 10am and hopefully be finished around lunch time. It will be at the Nottingham Eagle Dojo in West Bridgeford, please find the address below. The competition will run on knockout rules and is open to any student in a Nottingham Dojo who knows the following techniques:
Ippome Kumite
Ippome Kumite
Nihome Kumite
Sanbome Kumite
In our Dojo these are the techniques you will only learn if you attend the Junior Advanced class.
This is the first event of this kind to be taking part in UK, and we are very excited to invite everyone from around Nottingham. If you are interested please fill out the form below to register your entry – including a small concession/entry fee of £5 to cover the cost of the trophies and medals for juniors who are taking part. I hope you are all excited as we are about this event, and I look forward to seeing lots of you taking part in this event.
We encourage parents to stay in attendance at the event and show support for all the juniors and add to the atmosphere within the dojo. If this does not suit you then you are also allowed to leave your child in our care.
To enter you must complete an entry form completed with the fee – please find this attached!
Good luck everyone, the hard work and training starts now!
ADULTS; WE NEED YOUR HELP!
For this event to run as smoothly as possible we are calling for as many adult volunteers for the day to help manage the juniors and to act as judges! There will be multiple matches happening simultaneously so we need as many of you as possible to help. It will be a great day with lots of fun and positivity and you may even get to take advantage of the large mat area yourself!
Do not worry, we will let all volunteers know of judging criteria and what is required and I promise it will be nothing too difficult for anybody.
Please let us know if you are available it will be greatly appreciated.
CANCELLED JUNIOR WEDNESDAY CLASSES
Due to low numbers we have to unfortunately CANCEL ALL future junior Wednesday classes. This is a great shame as we looked to take advantage of a larger matted area to allow our advanced juniors to practice more dynamic movements, however, the numbers were too low. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
