ADULT SEPTEMBER GRADING: BELT PRESENTATION

Last Thursday we held our clubs penultimate grading for you year and it was a great spectacle! Everyone gave their all and it was wonderful to watch as everybody passed! This Wednesday/Thursday we will hold the belt presentation where you will receive your brand new shiny belts and certificates so we encourage everyone to turn up, train and show support! Do not worry if you cannot make these days, your belt will be presented to you at the next available time.

EXTRA ADVANCED JUNIOR (WED) – OCT: (THIS WEEK)

We are looking at continuing the Extra Advanced Class on Wednesdays at Sneinton Dojo @ 6pm for the advnaced Juniors. We had some positive feedback for the class, and great use of much bigger hall to do more dynamic and exciting training for all the high level juniors. However, if numbers continue to be low then we will have to consider closing this particularly advantageous class. This would be a shame especially as we are currently preparing for the Junior Kumite competition in November!
We will still keep it every 2 weeks for now to see how people will manage the class during this term time.
The Class Schedue for October :

  • Wednesday 4th @ Sneinton Dojo : 6pm – 7pm
  • Wednesday 18th @ Sneinton Dojo : 6pm – 7pm
  • RAMLAN ORTEGA SENSEI SEMINAR (5th Dan)

On Tuesday 7th November Nottingham will be graced by a great 5th dan instructor from Aikido Shudokan Malaysia in Sensei Ramlan Ortega, 5th Dan. The seminar will be from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at a price of just £20 for early bird buyers! This is a fantastic price for such a high level teacher travelling half the planet to teach us in Nottingham. To make it even more worthwhile we are offering an amazing deal for people present at the seminar: if you attend the Tuesday seminar then, for the same price, we are allowing students to train on Monday 6th, Wednesday 8th, and Thursday 9th with Sensei Ramlan from 6:00 – 7:00pm!! This is because our own Sensei Tad will be away for this week and there will be no classes in our dojo in these days.

Do not miss out in this fantastic special offer package of training which could be 5 hours of training for just £20 with Sensei Ramlan!

  • When? – Week of Monday 6th November – Must attend seminar on Tuesday 7th!
  • Where? – The Nottingham Eagle Dojo: The Eagle Building, Riverside Way, Nottingham NG2 1DP
  • Who? – 5th Dan Sensei Ramlan Ortega from Malaysia!
  • What? – 2 hour seminar plus optional full weeks training!
  • How? – By attending the Tuesday seminar for only £20 you will be eligible for training on the Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday as well!
  • JUNIOR SEMINAR WITH SENSEI RAMLAN:

On the Tuesday 7th November there will also be a junior seminar from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. This is a great opportunity for young aikidoka to be taught by teachers from different corners of the world as they gain both aikido knowledge and perspective. The seminar will be in a large dojo with many students from other dojos also looking to further their ability under international tutelage. For juniors looking to compete in that months Kumite Competition this seminar comes highly recommended as there will be exclusive tips and pointers being taught that could provide the difference between winning and losing on the day! I will also be there in assistance so do not worry about a lack of familiar faces! The seminar will come at a cost of £5, a great price for such a high calibre teacher and feel good event – you won’t regret this one!

    JUNIOR KUMITE COMPETITION!

We are excited to announce that on Sunday 26th November we will be taking part in a first, potentially annual, Junior Midlands Kumite Competition! This will be a tournament where our juniors will compete on an individual basis against other students from our dojo, as well as from other dojos around Nottingham, Derby, and the midlands. Competitors will be judged on their form and ability in executing the fluid technique, their ability in falling and receiving the technique, as well as on their spirit and attitude shown. There will be awards, trophies and medals for winners and runners up as it promises to be a huge event with lots of fun!
This is not a compulsory activity and you must be over Green Belt and attend junior high grades classes if you wish to enter and take part. We encourage all of our high grade students to take part in such an opportunity to win personal silverware and showcase their skills! The time and venue will be confirmed closer to the date.
