Weekly Bulletin 2nd January 2019

Weekly Bulletin 2nd January 2019

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you enjoyed the new year celebrations and are looking forward to 2019 as much as we are! Another big year is planned for Shoshinkan; see what we have planned for the coming weeks below!

Please note that ALL CLASSES WILL RESUME AS NORMAL FROM TOMORROW (3RD JANUARY); excluding after school clubs, which will resume from next week.

ANNUAL INSURANCE DUE
Unfortunately it is that time if year again when annual insurance fees are due in. These are important and unavoidable fees on top of the membership fee and are indepedent from any control or influence from us. The fees are:
Adult members; £30
Junior members; £25
This will cover you for the full years training at our Dojo for any injuries or problems that may arise. We also ask for these fees to be paid in full before the 31st of January 2019 please.

BELT PRESENTATION AND NEW YEAR MAT CLEANING
On Wednesday 9th we will have a belt presentation where the new belts earned at the end of last year will be awarded. This will take place following the regular class and will be followed by an annual cleaning of the mats. All of use the mat equally so if you are available to come and help clean it will be greatly appreciated – even if you cannot make it to training! After this, we will be heading to the local pub to complete catch ups following the festive period. Hopefully see you all there!

*Please bring any buckets and sponges you can to help with the cleaning of the mats*

KAGAMI BIRAKI 2019 JOINT SEMINAR

‘Kagami Birkai’ is a Japanese traditional new year ceremony which translates to ‘Opening the Mirror’ which is to be metaphorically understood as breaking of an abstinence. For us it will include hard training and a seminar designed to set the tone of hard-working endeavor and high spirits for the year to come.

  • When? Saturday 12th January. 11:00am – 1:00pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for warming up and getting changed.
  • Where? The Eagle Dojo. The Eagle Building, Riverside Way, Nottingham NG2 1DP
  • How? A small £5 charge will be present as we must cover our insurance expenses.
  • Who? 1 hour from Shobukai’s Phil Musson Sensei (5th Dan) & 1 hour from Shoshinkan’s Tadashi Narita Sensei (4th Dan) – Everyone is welcome!
  • *On this day the regular junior class will run as normal BUT both the advanced junior class and adult class will be CANCELLED due to all of these students being welcome at and encouraged to attend the seminar.

In addition to this you can expect the first regular classes of the year to carry the same theme in preparation for another good year! Osu!
