Weekly Bulletin 20th November 2017

Hello everyone,

This week the greatly anticipated Junior Jiyuwaza Competition is here! It is this Sunday and will be a great event for all juniors involved as well as all parents and adult volunteers! Also, as grading is now 1 month away, we will begin test practice from this week in preparation so don’t miss out!

JUNIOR JIYUWAZA COMPETITION

THIS WEEK!!! The event will take place on Sunday 26th November and start at 10am and hopefully be finished around lunch time. It will be at the Nottingham Eagle Dojo in West Bridgeford, please find the address below. The competition will run on knockout rules and is open to any student in a Nottingham Dojo who knows the following techniques:

  • 10 & Under Category:
  • Ippome Kumite

  • 11 Plus Category:
  • Ippome Kumite
    Nihome Kumite
    Sanbome Kumite

  • Where? – The Nottingham Eagle Dojo: The Eagle Building, Riverside Way, Nottingham NG2 1DP
  • In our Dojo these are the techniques you will only learn if you attend the Junior Advanced class.

This is the first event of this kind to be taking part in UK, and we are very excited to invite everyone from around Nottingham. If you are interested please fill out the form below to register your entry – including a small concession/entry fee of £5 to cover the cost of the trophies and medals for juniors who are taking part. I hope you are all excited as we are about this event, and I look forward to seeing lots of you taking part in this event.

We encourage parents to stay in attendance at the event and show support for all the juniors and add to the atmosphere within the dojo. If this does not suit you then you are also allowed to leave your child in our care.

To enter you must complete an entry form completed with the fee – please find this attached!

    Good luck everyone!

    ADULTS; WE NEED YOUR HELP!

For this event to run as smoothly as possible we are calling for as many adult volunteers for the day to help manage the juniors and to act as judges! There will be multiple matches happening simultaneously so we need as many of you as possible to help. It will be a great day with lots of fun and positivity and you may even get to take advantage of the large mat area yourself!

It is on Sunday 26th November and only for a few hours from 10am – lunchtime. Any help will be hugely appreciated.
Do not worry, we will let all volunteers know of judging criteria and what is required and I promise it will be nothing too difficult for anybody.

Please let us know if you are available it will be greatly appreciated.

    END OF YEAR GRADING!

The 4th and final grading of the year is coming next month and it should be the biggest! If you have any doubts about grading then we urge you to give it a go! From this week some classes will be test practice with more and more as the weeks progress. As it is the last of the year we would like everyone to grade and it is good to finish the year on a high with good feelings of accomplishment. With people anticipating to grade from 8th kyu all the way up to Shodan, do not miss the chance to play a part in a great spectacle!

Juniors: have a grading which will be on Saturday 16th December for Nottingham students and Thursday 21st December for Derby students.
For juniors grading is only for grades 4th kyu and above (Green Belt) and for Nottingham students they must also attend the 2nd class on Saturday.

    Adults:

  • When?
  • Wednesday 20th December 2017 (1 month today!)

  • Where?
  • Nottingham Snienton Dojo

Now is the time to consider grading, but please do not make a final decision before you have pushed yourself and put some hours in to try and ready yourself first because if you never push yourself you never know what you can achieve! Remember to find an uke if you need one!

    AIKIDO CHRISTMAS PARTY

JUNIORS: Will be having a Christmas party on Saturday the 16th December after the junior classes & Grading in the community centre. Do not miss this one as there will be lots of fun and games!!!

Adults: We are having somewhat of an Aikido Shoshinkan Christmas Party on the evening of Friday 22nd of December. We remain undecided on location but it will be somewhere in Nottingham City Centre as this is an easily accessible place for most people. If you are interested in being a part of this please let me (Rowan) know as soon as possible and we can arrange the most suitable venue. Also, if there are any recommendations then don’t be shy to voice them!
