Weekly Bulletin 18th September 2017

Good afternoon Aikido Shoshinkan family!

It has been a relatively nice weekend but we are looking forward to another week of aikido as we return to normality following the summer period! See below for details of what we have coming up!

***CANCELLED MONDAY CLASS***

Today, Monday 18th September, there will be NO ADULT EVENING CLASS at the Snienton dojo. Tonight’s class is cancelled due to our own Sensei Robin getting married with fellow instructors being in attendance to support the aikido family and unavailable to teach the class. Classes will be back on as normal from tomorrow, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Tuesday Class Back in September!

The Tuesday schedule will come back from Tuesday 12th September. That is THIS WEEK!
This class will run consistently again as normal from 7pm – 9pm @ Lenton/Dunkirk dojo

Extra Advanced Junior Class on Wednesdays – THIS WEEK!

We are continuing with the Extra Advanced Class on Wednesdays at Sneinton Dojo @ 6pm for the advnaced Juniors. We had some positive feedback for the class, and great use of much bigger hall to do more dynamic and exciting training for all the high level juniors. We will still keep it every 2 weeks for now to see how people will manage the class during this term time.

The Class Schedue for September :

  • Wednesday 20th @ Sneinton Dojo : 6pm – 7pm
  • SEPTEMBER GRADING!! – NEXT WEEK!

This month we have the 3rd grading of the year and we want to make it just as big an occasion as the previous two! If you are considering grading then now is the time to start putting the serious hours in on the mats. Our advice we always give to those who are unsure is to train as much as you can from now until the date of the test, and you can see how you feel closer to the time, but don’t give up before even trying!!

  • Where? Derby Dojo! (Sunnyhill Community Centre, Coleridge St, Derby, DE23 8AF)
  • When? Thursday 28th September @ 7pm
  • How? Don’t worry, we will start some classes off as test practice this week with the final 2 weeks before grading being exclusively test practice!
  • If you need an Uke for your test then please approach a suitable person as soon as possible to be certain that they are both available and in attendance for the grading. (I am available to take anyone’s uke at the current time!)

    RAMLAN ORTEGA SENSEI SEMINAR

In the first week of November we are lucky to host Sensei Ramlan Ortega, 5th Dan, from Aikido Shudokan Malaysia! The talented instructor will possibly be with us for up to an entire week with many classes available. Exact dates and prices are awaiting confirmation, but not to worry, we will let you know as soon as we do! Be prepared!

    Junior Kumite Competition!

We are excited to announce that on Sunday 26th November we will be taking part in a first, potentially annual, Junior Kumite Competition! This will be a tournament where juniors will compete on an individual basis against other students from our dojo, as well as from other dojos around Nottingham and the midlands. Competitors will be judged on their form and ability in executing the fluid technique, their ability in falling and receiving the technique, as well as the spirit and attitude shown! There will be awards, trophies and medals for winners and runners up as it promises to be a huge event with lots of fun!

This is not a compulsory activity and you must be over Green Belt and attend Junior high grade class to enter if you wish to take part, however we encourage all of our high grade student to take part in such an opportunity to win personal silverware and showcase their abilities! The time and the venue will be confirmed closer to the date.
